Today is the day

Science, Technology, Medicine; Our world has been progressing in leaps and bounds in almost all fields. Yet, one thing eludes us - peace!

Lawlessness, civil unrest, violence and corruption have become an accepted part of our lives. Despite all their differences, if there is one common factor between the world's religious, political and military leaders, it is "the uncertainty of the future". In spite of all their deliberations and summits, peace on Earth remains a distant dream. Everybody wants peace, so does anybody claim to have a lasting answer ?

In Christ, we have an answer. No man has affected World History like he has. In fact, world history revolves around his birth date , B.C. and A.D. After his resurrection from the Dead, He gave to his disciples a promise : "I will return", and then He ascended to heaven.

Before his return, as Jesus Himself said, many things will happen. "You will hear of wars and rumours of wars..nation will rise against nation, and Kingdom against KIngdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places...There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexing at the thought of the roaring and tossing of the sea. men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world. For the heavenly bodies will be shaken. And about His return, Jesus has said, "At that time, they will see the Son of Man (Jesus Christ) coming in a cloud with power and great glory". (1)

Current events are pointing to His return. The return of Jesus Christ will bring peace to the world ending the reign of darkness.

The dissatisfied Modern Man tries to find the answer through philosophy, science, education, alcohol and drugs, but it only leads him in circles. Sin is the root cause of all the problems and woes of man. It originated from man's unwillingness to live according to the plan and purpose of God. Sin is saying, "I will do whatever I please, and I don't care what God wants me to do".

Mankind dried up and faded as a flower removed from it's stem. Sin is not only doing wrong acts, but also the power that motivates mankind to do unwanted things. It separated man from Holy God. Man started wandering without purpose and peace. But, the loving God came down to this world in the person of Jesus Christ to search man. We don't have to be taught to sin, we are a wicked society. The question is, "How do we get out of this pit ?"

Jesus said, "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free". (2) Yes, we can be free. (3)Jesus said, "I am the ..Truth". He did not say, "You shall know a truth", but "the truth". He is the truth. He is the embodiment of all truth. Jesus said, "if you believe not that I am He, You shall die in your sins". (4) Jesus is worthy to forgive you and make you a new person.

Jesus is the ultimate truth in every realm. He told the truth about Love. He said, "God so loved the world". (5) He loves you irrespective of your religion, caste, colour or nationality.

Jesus told the truth about Judgment, He warned the people "to flee from the wrath to come". (6) He told the truth about repentance, He said, "Except you repent, you shall all likewise perish". (7) It means we shall suffer judgment, unless we repent. The word repentance means change - to change our minds, to change our way of living. Though, we cannot do it on our own, Christ can help us. But are you willing?

Many of you have an empty place in your life. You are in some sort of a trap. Tensions, marital problems, debt traps, immorality, drugs, envy, revenge, hatred or idolatry. You may be a whisperer, backbiter or boaster. Would you like to be free? You need to confess your sins to Jesus. Call upon His name for forgiveness, peace and purpose. (8) Christ alone brings revolutionary changes.

Religion or Religious conversion cannot effect this. It comes from within, when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. (9) When a man really believes in Jesus, it is revolution being operative, a revolution of Love. His love is still the wonder of the Universe. Taste it and you'll never be the same. (10)

Salvation is entirely of God. He planned it, accomplished it and offers it freely to mankind. To reveal the unseen God to mankind and for their salvation, Jesus Christ was born with a human body. He lived in the world without sin. The wage of sin is death. It means, we deserve eternal separation from God. But Jesus Christ died for our sins, as being Himself responsible for the penalty. HE IS RISEN ! CHRIST IS ALIVE !

Because He rose from the dead, we know there is life after death. If we belong to Him, we need not fear death. Death is another step to Heaven. He is the Prince of Peace and the Hope of the world. He is the desire of nations. (11) Christ is unique in His claims and life. Do you have a personal relationship with Christ? It can, if you will open your heart and let him in today. The only time we have is now.

" Now is the time for salvation". (12) Don't put away decisions for tomorrow, which may never come. Today is your day.

These are the words of the saviour to you now "here I am! I stand at the door (of your heart) and knock, If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in..." (13) The following is a suggested prayer. Prayer is taking to God in your words. Does this prayer express the desires of your heart? If it does, pray right now, Christ will come into your life.

" Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I repent for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Comfort me with your peace and control my life as it will be pleasing to you. Henceforth I will live for you".

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, please write to us today. We would like to pray for you and help you in your spiritual growth.

Wishing you peace and progress - John Sebastian
